Teaching
Penelope Roskell is a dedicated and inspiring teacher. In addition to her roles as Professor of Piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and visiting professor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she holds regular courses in London and elsewhere, including Advanced Piano Courses, and workshops on piano technique, which attract students from around the world. She also has a popular, private teaching practice in north London.
Penelope has taught regular classes for postgraduates at the Royal Academy of Music and frequently gives masterclasses and lectures at conservatoires, conferences, and summer schools, including Dartington and Chetham’s International Summer Schools, Finchcocks and Pianissimi. At Trinity, in addition to her piano teaching, she is involved in examining and auditioning and runs a regular class on piano pedagogy. From 2000 to 2002 she was also Director of the EPTA Piano Pedagogy Course.
Penelope offers private lessons to individuals at her studio in Stoke Newington, north-east London. Chamber groups are also welcome. However, since the coronavirus pandemic, most lessons are now conducted online via Skype or Zoom.
She is also available to give consultation lessons to anyone preparing for auditions, examinations, diplomas or competitions, or seeking advice regarding tension or injuries.
